Domains

*NOTE* If you are unaware, a domain will cost you $100 to register. This is payment for two years. After two years, there is a yearly renewal fee of $50. These fees are imposed by Internic and not us. If you want a domain anywhere, you will still have to pay this fee.

The first thing you need to do is check whether or not the domain name you want has been taken. Accomplishing this is easy. Just type "whois domain.com" from the command prompt on any server. If you have no access to a server, try this online whois form. If the domain is not taken, all you will need to do is submit the form below to Internic. If the domain name is taken, check and see if it is being used because it may be up for sale.

Instructions for submitting your domain

3. Record the Internic tracking number that they send to you. This number should arrive immediately after you submit your application. If it does not arrive immediately don't worry. Wait for approximately 4-8 hours and keep checking. If the letter does not arrive, please resubmit your application.

4. Wait for your domain to be registered. Great time to start working on those pages. The turn around time has been from 2 days to up to 2 weeks. If you think something is wrong or you get tired of waiting, then call Internic. BC Publishing cannot do anything to hurry the process along. The phone number for Internic is 7am to 7pm EST. They will want the tracking number.

Internic has been the domain registration service which everyone uses on the net. They have more registration information available, and they also have online forms to register your domain. Keep in mind that if you use an online form, you still need to send BC Publishing a copy of the form information. The online form will send only you a copy of the form filled out. Then you need to re-submit that form to Internic. For speedier service use our text form and submit it directly to Internic through email.
