Passwords

You can change your password at any time from the command prompt by typing "passwd". You will be asked about your new password and asked to type your new password again for verification. Please remember your password because we will have to change it if you lose it.

Security is an important concern on our server. Please be aware of all the security features you set up on the server. Please think about your password before creating it. Some good questions to ask are,

• Does it contain a least one number?
• Is it at least 6 characters in length?
• Is it a real word? Is it a word that relates to you?

The best answers would have been yes it does have both letters and numbers. Yes it is over six characters in length. No it does not relate to me and is just a bunch of nonsensical letters.

If you follow these guidelines your password should be secured or at least harder to "crack".
